Safely Social: Legal Issues of Social Media for Associations
Has someone set up an unauthorized LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter account to maliciously discredit your community? Are residents complaining about your association on the web? The first thing most potential residents do when researching an association is to "Google" the community, so it is imperative that you safeguard your online reputation and legally safeguard your own social media practices. Even if your community doesn’t use social media, others can and will use these channels to negatively portray your association. How you respond will determine your ability to attract new residents, enhance your community's overall experience, and protect yourself from legal liability.
