This seminar will focus on the relationship between the governing documents and insurance. We will identify unique provisions that can affect how claims are handled and options for amending the governing documents to clarify insurance issues and clarify intent. Having an understanding of insurance and the options available to associations to modify their insurance and governing documents is vital for every insurance professional and attorney.
Speakers:
Laurie S. Poole, Esq. is an attorney with the law firm of Peters & Freedman, L.L.P., which represents community associations in Southern California and has offices in Encinitas and Palm Desert. Ms. Poole has been a member of the firm since 1993. Experienced in all aspects of community association representation, Ms. Poole’s practice emphasizes interpretation and enforcement of governing documents, governing document amendments, restatements and petitions brought under California Civil Code Section 1356.
Robin C. Manougian, CIRMS currently co-chairs the CIRMS programs of the CAI Law Seminar, and has been a producer/agent with the John Manougian Insurance Agency, Inc., in Silver Spring, Maryland, since 1994. She earned her CIRMS designation in 2006 and held the CIRMS chair position from 2007-2010. She currently is a third-year member of the CAI Maryland Legislative Action Committee (MD-LAC), and is the LAC’s insurance committee chair.
