Program Description
Technological advances have changed the community association industry’s landscape. Whether conducting electronic meetings, taking minutes on tablets, documenting violations through smart phones, building comprehensive websites, or accepting online payments, advances in technology benefit all aspects of community association administration and impact residents, potential purchasers, boards, and industry professionals.
This session assists attorneys with counseling association clients about using technology to increase efficiency, accessibility, and effectiveness, while proactively addressing legal risks, policies, and other considerations.
Speakers
Jeffrey E. Kaman, Esq. earned his law degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law, after graduating with honors from Loyola University Chicago with degrees in History and Political Science. Since joining Kaman & Cusimano, Mr. Kaman has worked intensively, focusing on association operations, answering many general operational telephone calls, and spends significant time drafting governing document amendments, reviewing contracts, and writing opinion letters for the firm’s condominium and homeowner association clients. In addition, he has been instrumental in advising Ohio’s community associations about today’s lending regulations, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and VA requirements and approvals.
Melissa M. Garcia, Esq. provides advice and counsel to community associations in all areas of community association law, including contract and document interpretation and review. Work in this area has given her a unique command of the practical and legal issues facing both managers and board members of community associations today. Melissa is also one of the instructors for the firm education program which is designed to provide knowledge and skills necessary to managers and board members to thrive in the complex world of community associations.
