Program Description
This program provides an in-depth discussion of the coverages, terms and conditions of a community association commercial umbrella/excess liability policy. The discussion will start with the application for such insurance and it will include how an umbrella insurance company underwriter views the community association as a risk as well as how pricing is determined.
A sample umbrella/excess policy and key endorsements will be reviewed. The program will conclude with a discussion of umbrella/excess insurance claims and the claims process as well risk management practices to ensure the best coverage at favorable pricing.
Speakers:
Kevin Davis, CIRMS; has worked in the insurance industry for 25 years, specializing in Directors and Officers Liability Insurance and Employee Dishonesty Coverage, for the last 20 years focusing on community associations. He is the Managing General Agent for Travelers Insurance, one of the largest writer of D&O and Employee Dishonesty Coverage for community associations in the country. He currently insures over 30,000 community association across the US.
Ken Hager, AAI has been in the insurance industry for over 28 years with the firm of JGS Insurance located in Holmdel, NJ. For the past 15 years he has specialized in “niche insurance” or insurance programs for community associations. He has served on the national agency councils for CNA, Firemans Fund, St. Paul, & USF&G. He has also served as past national chairman of the Insurance & Risk Management Committee for CAI and has been a past presenter for them a number of times.
Joel W. Meskin, Esq., CIRMS has been Vice President - Community Association Insurance and Risk Management, McGowan & Company, Inc., since January, 2005. McGowan & Company, Inc., now known as McGowan Program Administrators is a leading provider of Community Association and Property Manager Insurance Products nationwide. Mr. Meskin is the former Senior Vice President, Ian H. Graham Insurance from 2001 and 2004. Mr. Meskin is an attorney who spent 15 years specializing in insurance coverage and related litigation. He hasbeen intimately involved with the community manager and the community association industry for many years, insuring over 75,000 community associations nationwide, involved in producing insurance policy products and is engaged in risk management.
Jamie Schraff, CIRMS is the Burbank, CA based Vice President and Community Association Program Manager for The Distinguished Programs Group. Jamie has been specializing in Directors and Officers Insurance for Community Associations for the last 11 years, working with carriers, agents, and over 25,000 Community Associations, and has been working with CAI for the past 9 years, providing professional risk management and best practices advice to Community Associations in all 50 states.
Tifinni Tegan, CIC, CIRMS is Vice President of Ian H. Graham Insurance (IHG) an Aon Company. Endorsed by CAI, IHG is a Managing General Underwriter specializing in insurance products for community associations including D&O, Crime and Umbrella. A graduate of Indiana University, Ms. Tegan has been in the insurance industry for over 16 years. Since joining IHG 6 years ago, Ms. Tegan has embraced the community association insurance niche by delving into the insurance nuances specific to community associations.

Clifford J. Treese, CPCU, ARM, CIRMS is president of Association Data, Inc., a company specializing in community association information and data. Mr. Treese has been involved with CAI almost since its inception. He is a past president of CAI and the CAI Foundation for Community Association Research and he is a recipient of CAI’s Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Treese is author of several CAI Publications on various topics including community association risk management and insurance.
