Speakers
Scott B. Carpenter, Esq. focuses primarily on general counsel, corporate and transactional matters, complex litigation, business advice, transactions, employment issues and conflict resolution and avoidance for condominiums, homeowners associations, planned community associations, cooperatives, churches and other nonprofit clients. As the author of Community Association Law in Arizona, published by the State Bar of Arizona, Scott is highly regarded on community association matters.
Candyce D. Cavanagh, Esq. is a founding member of the firm and co-managing partner. She has an extensive background in community association law and provides practical counsel to community associations. Ms. Cavanagh has over 25 years of experience serving and representing community associations. In addition to representing community associations, her background includes assisting developers in setting up new community associations.
Richard S. Ekimoto, Esq. received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Davis School of Law in 1983. He is a principal in the Hawaii law firm of Ekimoto & Morris, LLLC and practices primarily in the area of general representation of community associations. Richard has served as the National Vice-President of CAI, Member of CAI's National Board of Trustees for two terms, president of the Hawaii Chapter of CAI, a member of the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Chapter of CAI, Chair of CAI’s Public Affairs Council and the first chair of the Hawaii Legislative Action Committee for CAI.
Stephen M. Marcus, Esq. is a partner in the firm’s Condominium, Homeowners’ Association and Real Estate Development Groups, representing community associations, developers and lenders in a wide-ranging practice that includes: Reviewing, drafting and amending condominium documents; negotiating the terms of condominium association loans; and advising boards on rules enforcement, association insurance and other condominium governance issues.
Ronald L. Perl, Esq. is a partner of Hill Wallack LLP and a\ember of the firm's Management Committee. He is partner-in-charge of the firm's Community Association Group Ron concentrates his practice in the areas of community association law, transactional real estate, eminent domain and tax appeals. He is also a mediator for construction, real estate and community association disputes. He represents condominium associations, homeowners associations, cooperatives and real estate developers.
Susan B. Tarley, Esq. a partner with the firm, received her law degree from the George Mason School of Law and concentrates her practice in the areas of community associations, real estate acquisition, financing and development, commercial and residential real estate transactions, business matters and creditors’ rights. A leading attorney in the representation of common interest communities throughout the Peninsula and Tidewater Areas, Ms. Tarley represents some of the largest communities, but has extensive experience representing associations of all sizes, both commercial and residential.
