Program Description
One of the areas overlooked by community association law is the rights that a community association may have in its own name. Like any corporation, it's important for community associations to protect the usage of their name. Accompany your peers to explore various issues surrounding association names and websites.
Speakers:
- Geoffrey A. Lottenberg, Esq., Lewis Brisbois, Ft Lauderdale, FL; is a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice. Mr. Lottenberg focuses his practice on intellectual property procurement and enforcement, business and technology law, and complex commercial litigation.
- Joel Martin McTague, Esq., Frank Weinberg & Black PL, Plantation, FL; received his B.A. in Political Science and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami, his M.B.A. with Distinction from New York Institute of Technology, and is currently all-but-dissertation for his Doctor of Business Administration with a focus in finance from Nova Southeastern University and is finishing his LLM in tax law from the Washington School of Law. Mr. McTague focuses most of his representation on technology and intellectual property matters, as well as community association representation.
- Erica Stump, Esq., Erica Stump PA, Capistrano Beach, CA is an attorney, focusing her practice on intellectual property and the legal needs of the dietary supplement industry. Ms. Stump began her legal career as an intellectual property attorney at an intellectual property boutique firm in Miami, Florida and teaching trademark law at the University of Miami Law School, her alma mater. Shethen went in-house and served as General Counsel to VPX/Redline in Davie, Florida and then as General Counsel to Bodybuilding.com in Boise, Idaho. Ms. Stump started her own practice in 2011 and is the President of Erica W. Stump, P.A. today. As a result of her unique background, Ms. Stump and her colleagues at her firm provide legal advice and representation related to intellectual property disputes, trademark and patent searching, clearance, and prosecution, trademark, copyright, and patent litigation, FDA/FTC compliance of labels, marketing, and advertising materials, contract drafting and review, and general business disputes.
