Program Description
Watch two CCAL attorneys and the Los Angeles LGBT Center's transgender economic empowerment project program manager lead a panel discussion to explore the unique issues faced by transgender persons in housing with a focus on the emerging trends that affect community associations. Learn ways to address policies and rules, how to effectively communicate with transgender persons, and how to foster a discrimination- and bias-free environment.
Speakers:
- Jeffrey A. Beaumont, Esq., Beaumont Tashjian, Woodland Hills, CA; senior partner for Beaumont Tashjian – a full service community association law firm with offices in Woodland Hills, Laguna Hills, San Diego and San Luis Obispo. Mr. Beaumont has almost 20 years of experience providing general counsel and litigation services to his firm’s community association clients. Mr. Beaumont has also successfully defended several community association clients from multi-million dollar claims.
- Drian Juarez, Los Angeles LGBT Center, Los Angeles, CA; works as a consultant on Transgender issues in the workplace and assists in developing programs for communities endeavoring to help Transgender people get back to work. Ms. Juarez serves as the Program Manager for the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center’s Transgender Economic Empowerment Project (TEEP). Building a solid foundation for TEEP, Ms. Juarez established cross-organizational/cross-functional teams to assist in the mission of developing substantive employment and business opportunities for the Los Angeles Transgender community.
- Susan B. Tarley, Esq., Tarley Robinson, PLC, Williamsburg, VA has developed a reputation for providing creative solutions to the often-perplexing and difficult problems facing her community association and real estate clients. Ms. Tarley’s legal career has included transactional work, litigation, general counsel services to community associations, representation of banks, testifying as an expert witness, serving as a substitute judge for 18 years, and teaching advanced real estate as an adjunct law professor at the College of William and Mary Law School. Ms. Tarley enjoys teaching seminars, and providing educational programs for managers, boards of directors and owners. Ms. Tarley is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, is a member of CAI’s College of Community Association Lawyers, serves on the Virginia Legislative Action Committee and the Government and Public Affairs Committee.
