How can you keep “Fraudsters” out of your association? The moderators, an attorney, management company president, and CPA, will address how to spot fraud, how to prevent it from occurring, and how to handle a fraud investigation if it has occurred. The moderators will present multiple case studies involving actual community association fraud cases and discuss how those frauds were perpetrated.
Speakers:
- Paul Hansen, CPA, Butler Hansen, P.C, Gilbert, AZ; Paul Hansen began his accounting career in 1999 in the tax division of McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, a large national public accounting firm. In 2000 he joined the firm of Vance, Butler, Squires & Jones, P.C., CPA’s, a predecessor to Butler Hansen, P.C., CPA’s. He was made a principal in the firm in 2006.Paul manages and directs a team of professionals that provides financial reporting services, tax and advisory services for the community association industry. Paul and his team are well respected in the community association industry for providing quality audit, review and compilation services. In addition to providing quality services, our philosophy is to be value added during every stage of an engagement.
- Mark Sahl, Esq., CPA, Carpenter Hazlewood Delgado & Bolen, LLP, Tempe, AZ frequently presents on topics involving community association legal issues and has presented for Community Associations Institute, the Arizona Association of Community Managers, the Leadership Center, the Litigation and Claims Management Alliance, the Arizona School of Real Estate, and many other organizations. Mark also frequently conducts "Board Training" for Board members and managers throughout the state of Arizona. Mark has a passion for teaching and educating other professionals in the community association industry.
- Amanda Shaw, CPA, Associated Asset Management LLC, Tempe, AZ: As the president of AAM, Amanda Shaw is responsible for guiding the company’s daily operations, master-plan development planning and long-term strategic planning and financial matters. Amanda began her career in the housing industry in 1995 as Assistant Controller for Del Webb’s Sun City West community. Within a few years she rose to the position of Vice President of Finance for Del Webb’s SunCity Grand and later Anthem where she remained until being named General Manager of AAM in 2002.
