Program Description
Across the country, there are developing legal trends that every manager needs to understand. Presented by members of CAI's College of Community Association Lawyers, this session will discuss trends and share the specific actions a great manager needs to take to avoid liability.
Speakers
Scott Carpenter, Managing Partner at Carpenter, Hazlewood, Delgado & Bolen PLC, focuses primarily on general counsel, corporate and transactional matters, complex litigation, business advice, transactions, employment issues and conflict resolution and avoidance for condominiums, homeowners associations, planned community associations, cooperatives, churches and other nonprofit clients. As the author of Community Association Law in Arizona, published by the State Bar of Arizona, Scott is highly regarded on community association matters. He is a frequent contributor to continuing legal education courses on the topic of mandatory-membership community associations. Scott is a member of the Community Associations Institute's National Faculty and has the distinguished honor of membership in the Community Associations Institutes College of Community Association Lawyers and is serving as their current President through 2013.
Lincoln Hobbs, Governor, College of Community Association Lawyers, of Hobbs & Olson LC, is active in numerous professional and community service projects, having served for years as a member of the Utah State Bar's Ethics and Discipline Panel, and as an officer of the Utah State Bar Labor and Employment Section, of which he served as chair in 2002-03. Lincoln is also the founder and past president of the Utah Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI), an organization dedicated to fostering vibrant, responsive, competent community associations. In the Spring of 2003, the Community Associations Institute gave Lincoln the Award of Excellence in Chapter Leadership, in recognition of his service to the Community Associations Institute and the Utah community association industry.
