Dawn Bauman, CAE, is senior vice president of government and public affairs for Community Associations Institute (CAI). Dawn joined CAI in 1996 as executive director of the Central Arizona chapter. In 2000, she became executive vice president of the Washington Metropolitan chapter, CAI’s largest. In 2002, she joined the national office of CAI to oversee chapter relations and became executive director of the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (now the Community Association Managers International Certification Board) in 2003. Dawn holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and has earned the prestigious Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. She is a speaker and trainer for professionals seeking to earn their CAE certification and has extensive experience in strategic planning, nonprofit management and organizational development.
C. Scott Canady has a 15-year record of public service, including experience gained in the U.S. House of Representatives and in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In 2009, Scott launched Tambala Strategy and began his partnership with CAI. Through this partnership, Scott has worked with CAI’s members and leadership team to advance the views of common-interest communities on issues ranging from bankruptcy reform to revisions of the Federal Housing Administration’s condominium insurance program.
Ronald L. Perl, Esq., is a chair of the CAI Federal Legislative Action Committee and a fellow in the College of Community Association Lawyers. Ron is a partner in the Princeton, N.J., office of Hill Wallack LLP and a member of the firm’s management committee. As head of the firm’s community associations practice group, Ronald concentrates his practice in the areas of community association law, construction law, transactional real estate, eminent domain and tax appeals. He’s nationally recognized for his work in the field of community association law, representing condominium associations, homeowners associations, cooperatives and real estate developers. During his term as CAI president, he pursued a theme of “building community” and advocated a fresh look at the role of community associations. As a mediator for construction, real estate and community association disputes, he’s been an advocate for the use of alternative dispute resolution for the past 25 years.
